Judge James W. Brown

Born in Kalispell, Montana on July 13, 1941, Judge Brown was raised in the San Francisco area graduating from Los Altos High School. Judge Brown first came to Santa Barbara in 1960 to attend Westmont College where he received a B.A. in philosophy. He attended Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California where he received a B.D. degree in 1967.   Choosing the law over the ministry he received his legal education at Boalt Hall in Berkeley and graduated with a J.D. degree in 1970.

Judge Brown returned to Santa Barbara where he was in private legal practice with a local firm for twenty-eight years, specializing in the field of civil litigation.  He was appointed to the Superior Court in July of 1998 by Governor Pete Wilson.
